Asian-inspired restaurant Dan Dan spices up Sydney as it launches in Pyrmont

Sydney just got a little spicier with the launch of Dan Dan, the new Asian-inspired bar and restaurant shaking things up with its modern twist on traditional favourites.
Diners can indulge in a menu jam-packed with crowd-pleasing Asian classics and signature Dan Dan dishes which use unique and bold flavour combinations inspired by Head Chef Andrew Duncan’s travels. Think potato gems topped with spicy yellowfin and caviar, and burrata served with gochujang and roti.
Located on Harris Street, just a short stroll from the harbour, the 170 seater space, now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, promises to appeal to everyone, from adventurous foodies looking to spice up their tastebuds, to traditionalists who know how they like their food.
At night, the restaurant transforms into a vibrant bar and dinner scene. Enjoy mouth-watering share plates like caramel-drenched fried eggplant and cheeseburger spring rolls alongside a selection of reimagined dumplings – hello, laksa bombs.
Whether you’re in the mood for noods (Dan Dan Noodles to be specific), seared scallop jungle curry or Mongolian lamb, expect to be dosed up with big flavours.
To get the party started, Dan Dan offers two versions of its banquet feasts. The eight-dish Classic Banquet and the eleven-dish Epic Banquet are designed to surprise and delight feasters with some of the restaurant’s most popular options.
The surprises don’t stop at the food either, with Dan Dan’s range of inspired cocktails that have their unique take on crowd pleasers, from its Banana Bread Espresso Martini, Cherry Blossom Sour and wasabi-spiced Shizuoka Margarita.
By day, Dan Dan is open to Pyrmont residents and office workers looking for breakfast bites and coffee.
As the offering ramps up for lunch, the full menu includes hearty favourites like Dan Dan Fried Rice and Chicken Laksa, alongside lighter options like its Tuna Sashimi Salad.
An express lunch menu sits alongside the full menu between 11 am and 2.30 pm from Monday to Saturday, which vows to tantalise tastebuds with trendy sandwiches and bowls like its Bang Bang Chicken Sandwich, Chopped Salad Sandwich and Miso Salmon Bowl.
Dan Dan, the brainchild of the duo behind Sydney CBD’s beloved sandwich and cocktail bar Tiny’s, brings their signature quirky charm and culinary finesse to this new venture in Pyrmont.
With the combined experience of Tiny’s founders, seasoned Sydney hospitality expert Bobby Volcevski, and acclaimed chef Andrew Duncan, the pair have brought their restaurant and bar finesse to this new space.
Bobby said: “Dan Dan is the culmination of some of the best food Andrew and I have tasted on our adventures around the world. With the punchy flavours that are synonymous with Asian cuisine, we have created a menu like no other.
“With such a cool menu, we had to make sure our drinks keep up with it. The Banana Bread Espresso Martini has gone down a storm with the Pyrmont locals.”
Dan Dan’s minimalist aesthetic, designed by Tomas Scerbo from Interior Life, uses muted colours and functionality to convey the restaurant and bar’s cool, laid-back attitude whilst bringing in elements of Asian culture like its round tables each adorned with a lazy susan. Its vibrant atmosphere and modern decor make it the perfect spot to gather with friends, celebrate special occasions, or simply escape the ordinary.
So what are you waiting for? Head to Dan Dan and experience the ultimate Asian-inspired dining adventure.
